Join Us as an Area Manager – Help Shape the Services at the Heart of Our Community

At Eastleigh Borough Council, our Street Services Team plays a vital role in keeping our communities clean, safe, and thriving. Based in Hedge End, our teams deliver essential front-line services including street cleansing and waste operations—services that make a visible difference to every resident across the Borough.

We’re now offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven professional to lead these key service areas as our new Area Manager.

In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring our residents continue to receive the highest standards of service delivery. You will lead a large, multi-functional team, using your expertise in street cleansing or waste operations to support, develop, and inspire staff to achieve excellence.

This is a challenging role—one that requires resilience, strong operational management experience, and a proactive, can-do approach. But it’s also incredibly rewarding. You’ll have the chance to make a visible, positive impact in the community while shaping the future of a critical front-line service.

We’re looking for someone who:
• Brings significant experience in street cleansing or waste operational management
• Has a proven track record of leading and motivating large teams
• Thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to high-quality public service
• Is confident, motivated, and capable of leading from the front

In return, you’ll join a focused, supportive, and highly productive team who are clear on their purpose and ambitious about delivering results. As a senior member of the service, you’ll also enjoy the full range of local government employment benefits.

26-29 days annual leave (dependant on service)
Flexible working arrangements and ability to accrue up to 2 days additional flexi leave per month (subject to operational requirements)
Defined Benefit Pension Scheme
Discount at various leisure sites
Confidential Employee Advice and Support Programme
Car and Season Ticket loans
Excellent working environment
Support for continuous professional development
Good work life balance

Special Conditions of the Role:
This is an office and site-based position.
Standard working hours: 37 hours per week (typically 05:30–13:30)
Flexibility is essential, with occasional work required outside normal hours, including some Saturdays after Bank Holidays and during the Christmas period
